(Hilo, Hawai’i, 1.16.2025) MoshPlayLive enjoys all genres of music, we enjoy seeing performances and diving into the different scenes that encompass the music that gives it life. Last night at Kukuau Studio was one of those evenings for a blend of live music with EDM (electronic dance music) roots. Will Magid and Kascadence opened the Trancefusion Interstellar Dance Party.
Controlled shapes and patterns formed by 4,000 LED lights covered the mural behind the stage and a small wall of lights between stage and dance floor provided the ambience of the evening. Will Magid started the show with ‘live looping,' – playing the trumpet while incorporating sounds and notes on his sound mixing setup on the stage. Will started the evening with a single note and continued to raise the energy in the room throughout his 45-minute set. Will’s night was far from over as he stayed onstage to perform with Kascadence.
Kascadence took us for a global ride as they continued the journey that Will Magid started. Encompassing sounds from all over the world, Kascadence gave us jammy goodness, from funk to deep dark grooves that made us sway, bob and bounce to the rhythms. As a fan of the jam band scene, Kascadence took me to that realm numerous times over the evening, hitting those highs, then slowly reeling me back in, catching my breath, before sending me back out into the swirl of lights and sounds for a most excellent evening.
Bub and Waffles joined in at the end of the night. Bradley Leighton, known for Flute/Keyboards for Monday NIght Jazz Jam at Kukuau Studio, also joined in with his flute adding to the magic being created. MoshPlayLive looks forward to the next installment of Trancefusion! Hilo is the place to be for music, Mosh Play Live has four shows to see this week, we did 4 last week!
