(Hilo, Hawai'i, 11.14.2024) The intimate atmosphere in the lobby of the Hilo Palace Theater provided a unique setting for Lightning Larry Dupio and his band to celebrate the album release of “Hawai’i My Island Home” with family, friends and fans. The two-time Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner took the opportunity to walk through the crowd. For a few moments, he stood just inside the open doorway to play for the curious people who stopped on the sidewalk outside to listen.
With a full moon outside and ambient interior lighting, energy filled the historic theater as Larry and his band jammed their way through a 90-minute set of blues-drenched rock and roll. Fans danced to the mix that included original songs including “Three Days” off the new album and covers of B.B. King and Santana before ending the night with the Rolling Stones.
I just listened to “Hawai’i, My Island Home” and really enjoyed the 7-track album. The “Beach Day” jam was sweet. Check it out, it’s available now on streaming services. Better yet, Larry and his band play all over the Big Island and beyond, come out and enjoy the live music..
