EL Sancho and Two Years Apart at Uila Records

(Waimea, HI, October 16, 2024) MoshPlayLive made the journey to Uila Records in Waimea for the beginning of EL Sancho’s Fall run of shows with their supporting act, Two Years Apart. We were excited to see this venue for the first time and enjoy the music from a couple of bands that we have not seen in a bit.

The store itself has a really nice collection of vinyl for sale, I was only able to see some of the inventory due to the show, but was blown away by what I saw. The event organizers did a great job transforming the store into an intimate setting for the show. Tables, lights and comfy seating added a little something to the event and I really like disco balls.

The crowd was a mix of all ages, it was nice to see familiar faces in the crowd. When you come to a show here, we’d recommend arriving a few minutes early to find a good seat as they fill up quickly or grab a slice of pizza next door before the show.

One of the first acts we had the chance to see when we arrived on the Big Island was Two Years Apart. It has been fun watching them grow musically together over the past year plus. Two Years Apart covered Agent Orange, The Ventures “Pipeline”, and overcame some nerves to put on a strong set much to the crowd's enjoyment. Even when they don't play their amazing version of “Tom Sawyer," fans still talk about it.

Uila Records was filled by the time El Sancho took to the stage. They blasted their way through a one-hour 19-song set with Nate and Alan trading off vocals throughout the night. Drummer Tony led the charge playing favorites: “Island Fever,” "Namaste Kona,” and “How to Kill a Zombie,” before ending the night with “Roll Right Over You.”. El Sancho has a busy month ahead of them including a return of El Misfits on October 26th. Watch our interview with El Sancho to find out what else they have going on.

I’m looking forward to seeing what other bands do in this unique venue and look forward to making the trip to see Northern California’s Cut-Rate Druggist and Kauz of Affliction on January 8th. With parking and food next door, it is well worth the trip to Uila Records. Mike & Mele Bennett and Jason Sear provide another outlet for our music communities to thrive. Get out and support live and local music!

Peace Love & Mosh Pits,

Graham
