The 2024 concert season is heating up already, with a slew of heavy metal bands announcing big tours and an interesting festival in Oslo, Norway in June.
GWAR announced their “Age of Befuddlement Tour” beginning March 3rd in Norfolk, Virginia. They will play three more dates in the States before they invade our good neighbors to the North. They have a 10 day tour starting in the Capital City of Ottawa, Ontario and making their way to the Pacific coast city of Vancouver, British Columbia. They drop down to Spokane, Washington, before a headlong rush through middle American and wrapping up on March 30th in Baltimore, Maryland. Cancer Bats, X-Cops and Fuming Mouth are support GWAR on their path of destruction.
Amon Amarth announced their biggest tour yet of North America on the ‘Metal Crushes All Tour’ with Cannibal Corpse, Obituary and Frozen Soul. The first night of the tour begins April 21st in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the next night they play in the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater just outside Denver, Colorado. In all they have planned 24 stops in North America, four of those will be in Canada and six are arena shows.. They finish up May 25th in Anaheim, California. Raise your horns!
Lastly, and you can add this to the Heavy Metal Hippie’s wish list - the ‘Tons of Rock Tour’ in Oslo, Norway June 26th-29th. Headliners include Metallica, Tool, Judas Priest, Greta Van Fleet. Veronica’s likely to be convinced by the addition of Saxon, Opeth, ZZ Top, Mr.Bungle and Norway’s own old-school alt rock band Seigmen. I guess it’s time to ask Santa for concert tickets.
